BRIEF HISTORY

Compaq (Compatability And Quality) occasionally referred to as CQ prior to its final logo was a company found in 1982 that developed, sold and supported computers related to products and services. This company sold some of the first IBM PC compatible computers, being the first company to legally reverse engineer the IBM personal computer. It soon became one of the largest supplier to PC systems during the 1990s before being overtaken by HP in 2001. The company struggled to keep up the price competition with Dell as well as acquisition of DEC. Compaq was acquired by HP for $25 billion in 2002 and was used for lower-end system until 2013. 

The company was formed by Rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murato. A former Texas Instruments senior managers. Compaq was found in Feburary 1982 my three senior managers from semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments.
